The GOBA Foundation is a 5013c organization dedicated to raising funds for children and families in need. Since its charter in 1985, the Foundation has made donations totaling more than $1 million to youth-related charities and scholarships across Central Florida.
Throughout 2021, the Foundation supported five local children’s charities: Embrace Families, New Hope for Kids, Elevate Orlando, Guardian Ad Litem, and Quest Camp Thunderbird for a total of $50,000 in annual donations. Each charity was presented with their annual donation check during the Holiday Party and Nine & Wine Golf event on Thursday, December 9th, 2021.
“As contributing members of the Central Florida home building industry, we realize that our success is not solely dependent upon our own hard work and talents.  It is also a reflection of the dynamic community in which we live and work. As the charitable arm of GOBA, our mission is to provide, in perpetuity, a vehicle for us to repay our community,” said Chassity Vega, Greater Orlando Builders Association CEO.
Although the Foundation’s support is available to a broad base of worthy causes in Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties, two specific areas of particular interest have been targeted; youth and education.
The Foundation was able to give back to the community through back-to-school initiatives with a partnership with Osceola School Board Members to host a backpack giveaway. More than 400 children were able to select a backpack from an array of colors and designs to help get ready for 2021-2022 school year. During this time, GOBA also received an urgent request for assistance from 2021 Focus Charity, Embrace Families, to help collect 1,000 pairs of new shoes for a Back-to-School Shoe Drive. Thanks to the generosity of GOBA members and the Foundation Trustees, more than 400 pairs of shoes (valued at $17,000) and $2,000 in cash donations were collected allowing youth and teens walk back in the classroom with confidence this year.
Additionally, thousands of children rely on charitable organizations to fill their stockings during the holidays. With the help of many GOBA members and friends, the Foundation was able to spread some holiday magic to families in our community by collecting toys, games, ands bikes through a Holiday Toy Drive.
In 2021, The Foundation also awarded $16,000 in scholarships funds to deserving students through its ongoing partnership with the University of Central Florida (UCF) and Valencia Community College.
Funds are raised by GOBA primarily through two signature events, Nine and Wine Golf Fundraiser and Charity Clay Shoot, with all proceeds going directly to the Foundation. In 2021, these events raised approximately $45,000.

“We wouldn’t be able to accomplish our goals without the dedicated Board of Trustees, members and GOBA staff liaisons. We look forward to another successful year of supporting and giving back to the children and young adults throughout Central Florida," said Dana Gravett, Greater Orlando Builders Association Foundation President.
