LISTENING PAYS FOR
BUILDING PROFESSIONALS
PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION
Listening -- it seems so simple. Yet, it’s estimated that the average person ignores, forgets, or misunderstands at least 75% of what he or she hears. Is it any wonder that mistakes occur, opportunities are missed, or that the “I’ll take care of it!” never happens? Most people are much better at hearing themselves talk than they are listening to what others say. Dr. Peter Drucker, the Father of
Modern Management, affirmed, “Of the major, basic competencies of a leader, the first is the willingness, ability and self-discipline to listen.” The value of listening is fundamental to effective leadership and team success.
By the end of this highly interactive presentation, you will leave challenged to continue building on a foundation of 3 positive listening goals:
- Awareness: raise your listening awareness in all areas of your life
- Application: learn listening strategies, techniques and tips to help you continue to improve your listening skills
- Action: develop concrete plans for translating the learning into action on your job and in your personal life
